Wine and Spirits Praise for Twomey Pinots
We’re proud to have received such high praise for our Russian River and Anderson Valley Pinot Noirs in the March Issue of Wine & Spirits
2011 Twomey Russian River Pinot Noir
"A delicious, classic Russian River Pinot Noir…a clean, refreshing beam of red cherry flavor, its velvety richness lifting into a long, crisp finish. As the wine takes on air, its overt vanilla tones of new oak meld with the fruit, leaving a wood-bark impression that plays up the wine’s savory edges."
2011 Twomey Anderson Valley Pinot Noir
"A cool, marine influenced pinot noir with a bright red glow of strawberry fruit. You might find oceanic hints of kelp and seashell within the heady aroma, or you might just chill it slightly and enjoy how easy it is to drink."
Sideways and Upwards
On the 10th Anniversary of the release of the movie Sideways, Imbibe Magazine profiled the comeback of Merlot in the wake of the film’s unintended and nearly disastrous influence on sales of the varietal dubbed “the Sideways effect”. The article details the reemergence of the once dominant wine and profiles a series of vintners who have helped to breathe new life into quality Merlot-making including Twomey:
“Twomey’s Merlot (is) really well made and just what Merlot should be: round, juicy, not too much tannin. People love it. They kind of forgot this grape and when they taste it they rediscover it and are very happy. It’s such an elegant and well-balanced wine, you can drink it even with white meat. It’s a great alternative to Bordeaux, and to be honest, far better than a lot of them.”
Twomey 2013 Merlot May be California’s Best
