Sustainability – it’s our ethos at Twomey, and has been from the start. With wines focused on capturing the essence of place, our farming techniques focus on proven methods – from advanced water conservation technologies to the use of cover crops and beyond – that produce expressive wines and protect the land for generations to come.
Using technology to closely monitor soil moisture and plant stress throughout the growing season, we apply water to our vineyards only when and where they need it, resulting in reduced water usage and better tasting grapes.
We plant cover crops between the vine rows, a sustainable technique that helps build organic matter, suppress weeds, improve soil structure and reduce nutrient loss – leading to healthier soils and grapevines.
Integrated Pest Management
IPM keeps harmful pests in check by providing habitat to attract beneficial insects, such as ladybugs, spiders, bees and butterflies. We place nesting boxes in our vineyards for bluebirds and owls, which help keep unwanted insects and rodents at bay.
Fish Friendly Farming
This certification program recognizes agricultural properties that have restored fish and wildlife habitat and improved water quality. Twomey’s certified vineyards include Soda Canyon Ranch and Calistoga.
Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
We are committed to the future of sustainability. For the convenience of our guests, both our Calistoga and Healdsburg wineries are equipped with electric vehicle charging stations.
